Scenester

Soundtrack

I'm back amongst familiar surroundings.
I've started back dancing.
More out of necessity than desire, truth be told.
I felt some unease heading back into the scene which I found odd/striking.
I remind myself that's just the small voice of insecurity and doubt that wants to stay comfortable and predictable.
I lock the voice away and remind myself that the ice cold water of change will give way to better days in the sun.
2 years away will have that effect, no matter how often you once did something.

I run into an old friend, as in, from before I even moved to this town/city....we catch up in that awkward way adults do when much has transpired, much has changed, but it feels good to simply see a familiar face you met long ago with the commanlity of friendship, the passage of time, and how rarely we "know" someone for such a length of time these days.

At any rate, I dance quite a bit with a bunch of girls and it's the usual game of if/when they ask my name, what I do, et cetera. By and large, they are some of the nicest girls I've met in the past couple years and the who's cooler than who?-game does not take place and it is merely two people dancing, laughing, and having fun.

All in all, it proves and overly pleasant time and I smile quite a bit. It's constructive....it beats watching TV at my empty apartment, and I enjoy the sight of people interacting through a common/shared interest.

I'd rank that pretty high in the ways you could potentially spend free time/a diversionary evening on a weeknight.

I drive home, eat dinner, relax and watch some TV before I doze off.
