Chris Rock has a great line in one of his stand-up routines, along the lines of "a woman's not gonna let some logic fuck up her argument."
It's a moment you stop and remember all the time you wasted trying to reason with an unreasonable woman. It's a profound moment in which your laughter is really your brain briefly recognizing an absolute truth.
Another one is where he reflects that your man brain is essentially incompatible with understanding women because you attempt to look for consistency and rationality....and honestly....as any man who does well with women will acknowledge, basically, do the opposite of what makes sense most of the time and you'll do just fine with women.
It's a hard fought lesson to remember with women.
Society and mothers and sisters and the like will say one thing and do another.
We have all these words and movies and false narratives and rom-com's in media where eventually the good guy gets the girl (though to make money, there are some new(er) narratives where the rake gets the woman (but ultimately he supplicates to her and her alone which is the truly falsest narrative of all because once you bore her too long, she is no longer yours and will resent the paradigm shift you have placed in the relationship without her consent).
What then?
Will you be the emotional rollercoaster for the rest of your days?
You think being a player is hard?
Try being married, sir.
Marriage in a society where the constant encourages her in all the ways she will be unhappy long-term mean you are shackled to a woman relentlessly pressured to pursue an impossible goal. It's mind blowing.
For the ladies out there, which based on comments and recent emails, I have a fair number of followers (surprisingly, to me at least).....I don't have anything which resembles an answer for you.
The goals of the traditional male, the pursuit of skills and talents and a career (silly)....I don't even ascribe to much of that rhetoric. I don't know how having a kid or a marriage is supposed to be the penultimate goal or whatever they're selling you ladies these days. They're selling you both dreams: a career, children, a time of sowing your wild oats, then being a powerful, dominating hearing me roar woman who resents the man she settled with....I mean....it's a monstrous and terrifying.
No wonder you're all doped up with anti-depressants the way men are drugging themselves with alcohol to quiet the cognitive dissonance of the modern age.
We're all fucked to some extent is about as close a consensus my brain can formulate.
