Burning Bright
You wake up.
You drive past the same places.
You see the roads you've walked in the cold when you didn't have money for a cab.
You see the hotel you fucked that stripper in.
You see that parking lot where you fought a bunch of guys.
You see the restaurants you've eaten at with countless ex's and other randoms.
You see now, finally and unequivocally, you must leave.
You've turned down the requests to stay on.
You've told everyone who asked you to stay and pleaded that you will not.
You have backed yourself into the corner necessary to force you to move.
Your first trip to investigate a potential area you may move to looms on the horizon.
You do not feel excitement so much as acceptance of the true laws that govern the world and your perspective.
You know whatever new place you choose will be good for a time.
The girls do not know you.
You will have that wordless quality of excitement as you investigate new bars, clubs, vaginas, asses and the rest.
You know this will give way to whichever girl's heart you break first. And then when you sleep with her again while she dates some other guy....You know the story b/c the story never changes.
Just as you do not change.
You become a bit wiser, a bit more precise, a bit more careful at times....but just like this weekend showed.....the tiger does not change its stripes.
