IF you're reading this: I'm still in jail and actual new/real-time material will likely resume in the New Year -
Money comes and goes.
Wealth and maintaining it can make you miserable. It becomes a job in and of itself.
The above being said/stated/believed.....what has real value? That being said, what cannot be taken from you nor lose its value over night due to circumstances beyond your control?
Good looks: Oscar Wilde said much on this simple subject/idea/belief.
Native intelligence: and that which is fostered and increased by always learning and a couple passionate hobbies will keep you developing and growing rather than withering on the vine like so many "adults" living a life of saving for a rainy day that doesn't come because they get fucking cancer and die because they didn't exercise or cook their own fucking food.
Hardship and the lessons it teaches:
A belief that come what the fuck may you will survive:.... and that when you value you little that which you value has incredible meaning and yet likewise you remain unfettered in a way few people will ever understand.
My whole life is packed in my car while I'm sitting in jail.
My life is in one bag and two storage boxes/containers/whatever-the-fuck-they're-called.
I have gone into jail accepting that my car could get towed, seized, impounded, whatever, and I may get released from jail with no money to my name only the clothes on my back but that I will be fine and I will work my way back into society. I know that I will emerge from the belly of the beast with hard earned lessons that will likely not ever leave my being.
The few material possessions I have are indeed of value, my favorite pair of sneakers, my copy of Anthem by Ayn Rand, a gift from a colleague unknowingly given to me days before my quitting, and a few other random personal effects I won't describe here. The actual personal items I would be upset to lose is a handful or two. I like the simplicity of it.
It's free-ing. It's freedom in real-time.
At any rate....if you're tense...simply your life.
If you haven't used it in the past two weeks....you can do without it.
If you're saving it for winter and can't remember wearing it last winter....get rid of it.
Good luck and happy hunting,
- Yrs. in Christ
